NCAM-04 TORCH Cleaner Technology

from Tipman Corporation

Spatter buildup on welding torches creates inconsistent arc performance and weld quality issues, while manual cleaning interrupts production and requires operator intervention. Tipman Corporation's NCAM-04 Torch Cleaner solves both problems with automated cleaning that happens without stopping your robotic welding operations.

Since establishing our arc welding equipment division in 2003, Tipman has focused on practical solutions for common welding challenges. Our Kentucky facility brings two decades of Japanese engineering expertise to North American markets.

The cleaner does not require communication with the robots in use, so a pneumatic hose is the only input needed for installation.

The torch cleaner’s welding nozzle is inserted into the clamp rollers.

As the nozzle is depressed, the reamer begins rotating at high speed. The torch is held firmly in place as it's cleaned by a proprietary clamp system (4WD).

Any waste or spatter removed from the nozzle is crushed and collected in one place to be disposed of easily.

The nozzle is pulled back up into place once cleaning is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions About Torch Cleaner Technology

  • Q: What power requirements does the torch cleaner need?

A: The NCAM-04 requires 3.5-5kgf/cm² air pressure. No electrical connections to the robot are necessary, simplifying installation and compatibility.

  • Q: What happens to the removed spatter?

A: The welding torch cleaner crushes and collects spatter in one location rather than letting it scatter. This keeps the work area clean and reduces contamination risks.

  • Q: Can the torch cleaning unit work with different robot brands?

A: Yes. Since no communication with the robot is required, the NCAM-04 works with any robotic welding equipment that can position the torch properly.
